That is, bummer South Africa lost to Australia, but at least we will meet them again in the final :-). Things have tightened up as we are reaching the halfway point, in terms of time, of the tournament. You are all probably now looking at your teams and saying things like "What has Plunkett done for me lately", and if your name is Katy, the answer is "Nothing, that's what. Damn Plunkett."
Are you running out of trades? Have you got your overall strategy lined up? I suspect games will be tighter and points harder to come by from now on. Still, anything could happen with so many people in contention.
The teams are now all decided for the Super 8 round so here they are for your viewing pleasure:
A1 - Australia (2 points going in to Super 8)
A2 - South Africa
B1 - Sri Lanka (2 points)
B2 - Bangladesh (99% sure)
C1 - New Zealand (2 points)
C2 - England
D1 - West Indies (2 points)
D2 - Ireland
Popular opinion for the final four teams seems to be, in this order,
1 - Australia
2 - South Africa
3 - New Zealand
4 - Sri Lanka
England and West Indies need to play a bit better if they want to get through.
Well from here on out it is only 1 game per day, so there are no excuses for missing any of the action.
Enjoy the rest of the weekend,
Michael

My new startegy is dump the English! Not only has Plunkett done nothing for me, neither has Vaughn. So I am casting my field of view down under. I don't think the aussies and kiwis stink. I rather like kiwis and koalas are cute......And Graeme, its time to pick some white people (in a politically correct way of course, this is what all of my Indian and Pakistani students are saying)- there are plenty of Mikes, and Matts, and other such Ms
Thank you for the analysis - as always incisive and helpful. Instead of some folk running away with it, it is remaining extraordinarily close - makes for a very interesting contest. Don't know about you but my team is pretty well set for the rest of the competition - running out of trades. Katy, I see you back whoever is winning - no feelings of loyalty because the in-laws are British! They did beat Kenya, you know. Who is Plunkett anyway? Let's have blog comments from lots of you - we want to know what you are thinking - how else will we beat you??
So listen. The Australians didn't beat South Africa. Jacques Kallis did. A case of being done in by friendly fire. We can hope that his management can persuade him that sometimes risking losing his wicket as a trade for making some quick runs is as good for him as it is for his team, but I'm not going to hold my breath. But the really big question of this World Cup is: who is Plunkett?
Listen people, how can I back the British if you don't even know who your team mates are?????? He's some boring British Bowler who isn't doing squat to get his team into the next round, and he's been keeping me from moving ahead of that pregnant chick.
