Only half a cricket game

Well, the one day games between Australia and West indies has turned into a two day game.

Here at Robinson World Cup Central, or as we like to call it, Robinson World Cup Central, we feel that data visualization is of the utmost importance. Our motto is "If you cannot visualize it, it's a bummer." Obviously we are going to fire our motto department. But, to live up to our motto, such as it is, we have created a new means of assessing the progress of all the teams: the Robinson World Cup Worm.

And here it is. (You can click on it for a full size version)

As you can see Sarah is cheating. No, I'm just kidding, but seriously, I think she is cheating. Well done Sarah, coming from the middle of the pack with two consecutive excellent performances. Sarah gets the knocking the pregnant chick off the top of the charts ribbon of excellence. The other obvious thing shown here is who loves little old Matty Hayden and who does not. Let us see what tomorrow brings with the second part of this game. South Africa are going to be playing Sri Lanka which will also stir things up.

I had it wrong two posts ago when I said West Indies would be D1 and Ireland D2. Since West Indies played today they are D2. I still cannot figure out how that works, but anyway. We have changed the schedule link on the right to point to the Super 8 round timetable.

Finally, here is a little article showing how the Australian team chooses their batting order. Timing is everything in cricket.

Ciao,
Michael

Super cool graph Michael, but I think that maybe you need to crack a window there in Robinson World Cup Central (aka the computer room). Your blog seems a bit fuddled. Maybe its not you, maybe my sharp decent from the top of the pack has fuddled me.......

So excited about the worm. Thank you for that absolutely useless piece of information. Didn't Sarah do well! And not knowing who is in her team is very intriguing. Those of us who chose Matty did ever so well, didn't we! Don't worry, Katy, it seems any of us can still get there with an inspired choice or two. Hello to everyone else too - are you there? Can't let Michael do all the blogging on his own.

Oh dear, I'm a very strict vegetarian, so I do worry so about all these poor worms.

I have a poem for y'all:
We know what a rusk is, because we can dunk it
We know what an exam is, because we can flunk it
We know what a scary event is, because we can funk it,
But what is it that we need, in order to plunk it?

Moira, I really like the poem.

To echo Michaels earler blog,
'I am so proud of my daughter!'
Go Sarah!

I think that poem is fabulous - you have to be in a cricket team but not do anything much - that is how you plunk it. For example, I play for Kent County Cricket team but I always plunk it - does that help at all? I am not sure what funk it is though - can anyone enlighten me?
