Australia look unbeatable

Hi all,

We got back from our trip to see the cricket last night. We had a great time. It was fun, even the bad games were fun to watch after not seeing cricket for 10 years. It reminded me of going with the family to see games at the Wanderers when I was a kid. Katy was getting into the games too. She can now yell the right things at the right times at the right people for the right reasons.

Henry had the best day today with Ponting as his captain. Australia made easy work of Sri Lanka, and I'm not sure who is going to be able to stop them. Here is the worm.

On the last day when South Africa came out to warm up I managed to get Jonty Rhodes' autograph!! Here it is, on my hat. I asked him why he wasn't playing anymore. He said it was too tiring. I gather he does lots of surfing now.

Here are a couple of other photos from the West Indies - South Africa game, which was the best game we saw while we were there. The first is a panorama of the whole stadium. Click on it to see it bigger.

The second picture is of Kallis hitting a four over mid off.

The South Africa - England game will decide who the forth team is that will go through to the semi finals. Keep your fingers crossed for your favorite team.

Ciao,
Michael

That's all amazing, good autograph to get! The Kallis photo is amazing too. Makes me want to go and watch some cricket.

What fabulous photos! Hope you got to speak to Jonty - what a wonderful player he was. It is halfway through the England/SA match and looks like things are going South Africa's way.

I am pleased to see that Katy knows what to shout and when. Shouting Strike One at any time would not be proper. Now Katy, did Michael wear his suit and you, your twin set? And I was appalled to note that there was loud bashing of empty water bottles against each other and wild dancing and rhythms not suited to a cricket game. When it gets really thrilling, like after a hat trick has been achieved, a little gentle clapping and a light smile may be permitted. You might even say things like 'Gosh, did you see that super shot?' Cavorting and frolicking on the stands is to be frowned upon.

Like Paul, I would love to see some good cricket - what about all of us going to Lords together sometime? And remember to bring your Earl Grey tea and cucumber sandwiches please.

Katherine, I'm proud to be related to you, even if it's thru marriage.
You have such a pleasing way of saying thing, even in jest.

I was going to look at the timetable of matches at Lords for Sunday afternoons this summer.
Nothing like a lazy Sunday afternoon, cucumber sandwiches, Earl Grey and the gentle knock of leather on willow, and someone bashing water bottles together!....Ah the English summer.

Janet, I am not sure if you are getting the hang of this yet - NO WATER BOTTLES!
